I'm pretty excited about the Canon announcements tomorrow... I know I'm not going to be able to afford an EOS R, but that EF-M 32mm f/1.4 might be exactly what I want to pair with an M50 or M6. I love a fast prime.
I love that ESPN has rebranded ESPN2 as “The Ocho” today and is airing obscure sports. (If you don’t understand the reference, watch the movie Dodgeball.)
A couple of weeks ago, before I left for vacation, I spent a little extra time cleaning my desk and organizing email and files. Having that clean desk when you get back in the office really does make a world of difference.
📚 Last summer on vacation, I read Stephen King's On Writing. I don't have anything set aside to read this year... any recommendations?
Enjoyed this blog post from Brendan Dawes about the process and pace of creative projects.
My six-year-old steps on a Lego and he goes into full World Cup soccer “injury” mode – rolling on the floor, grabbing his foot and screaming.
Running errands with my 13-year-old daughter and I learned that she has very strong opinions about the eggs on fast food breakfast sandwiches.
Intrigued by the potential of Affinity Designer for the iPad. Serif is building a suite of pro apps that don't require a subscription and work seamlessly across Mac and iOS. Excited to watch these apps develop and evolve.
I told my 10-year-old to stop reading in the dark. “It will hurt your eyes,” I said. ”That’s a lie parents tell their children,” she replied. “I saw the video on YouTube.”
Enjoyed this post from Seth Godin. A designer's job is so much more than just designing logos or web sites...
I finished my 52 Shirts project. So happy with how the project turned out.
My issue with social media right now isn't necessarily about privacy... It's more an issue with return on investment. How much time am I putting into Facebook and Twitter and what am I getting out of it?
I'm seriously thinking about leaving Facebook and Twitter and just going with Micro.Blog and Instagram. I just don't feel like I'm getting anything out of social media today...
I'm rattled by the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. I had a recent talk with a friend about mental health and creativity, and the stress that designers, writers and other creatives put on themselves. Expectations are unrelenting and exhausting.
I came across this NY Times article about why we are too hard on ourselves. It really resonated with me and I think many (most?) of us fall into this category.
I hate it when I have the perfect name for something – a blog, project, font, etc. – and it's already taken.
I’m amazed how some people become so obsessed with the process, that they miss the point of the process.
I'm not sure if listening to the Beastie Boys on the drive into work was a good idea or bad idea.
I keep a folder in Ulysses with blog post ideas. Things I want to write about. I just checked the folder and I've got 39 ideas or half-written posts sitting there... Time to get writing.
Had a great time at the Atlanta Pen Show this weekend. Always great to see Myke and Brad record The Pen Addict in front of a live studio audience.
